Rana Naidu, starring Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati, is Netflix‘s return to the genre of reimagined action crime dramas.
The film, based on the 2013 TV series Ray Donovan and written by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma, is a dark and moody thriller that moves between the streets of Hyderabad and Mumbai and is most compelling to watch because of the electric chemistry between Rana and Venkatesh in their first on-screen appearance together.
Yet, Rana Naidu’s appearance is off-putting.

What Is Rana Naidu All About?
Rana Naidu, who is based in Bombay, where glamour and dirt collide, undertakes the dirty work for the top business tycoons, professional athletes, and celebrities in the city to solve their problems.
His father, Naga’s sudden release from prison triggers a series of events that shake the Naidu family to its foundation, starting off this riveting drama.
In a nutshell, Rana is a literal lifeguard for all of his high-profile clients, regardless matter how dishonest or hostile they may be.
He takes advantage of people’s dumb errors by acting as a savior and saving them from the mess. Yet, his personal life is far more of a mess than he can ever manage.
In contrast to how much he despises his father, Tej and Jaffa, his brothers, are the people he gets along with the best. Possible explanation: from a young age, he had to step in and play the role of a father figure because the real one was absent.
He gives his family all they require, excluding quality time, for this reason. His job keeps him away from home and gradually distances him from them. With the exception of the obvious cultural variations, the tale in the series and Ray Donovan share a lot of similarities.
Nevertheless, this is what you get if you condense all seven seasons of the American series into a 10-episode series. The authors are unable to capture the same compelling essence despite having extensive stories.
The most notable contrast is how the characters are only sketched out somewhat, making them rely on Rana for the progression of the story. In contrast, every character had a tale of their own in the original series that ran concurrently with other plotlines and had a substantial arc over time.
There is no denying that they have a fantastic cast of actors; even the younger cast members never feel awkward. Yet, the story’s flaws eliminate everything.

Rana Naidu Ending Explained
The fact that no one in Rana Naidu seems to have any good traits makes for a fascinating and deeply unsettling viewing experience.
By the very end, one is left wondering if the entire idea of righteousness as opposed to wickedness can be ascribed to the assumption put forward in Rana Naidu, making it difficult to support the archetypical good or bad character.
As the plot of our Mumbai-Hyderabad drama develops, Rana—the seeming hero—becomes a darker, more brooding character, going to any length for the guys he serves. Naga, on the other hand—the archetypal villain—becomes more sympathetic after serving a 15-year term for murder.
Rana Daggubati, a Telugu actor, stars in the show as a fixer with an answer for every issue his “client” may have. But none for the issues that Naga, his father, creates.
Rana sends his father to jail; as a result, accusing him of killing a girl. Actually, Bollywood actor Prince was the one who did it. We find out afterward that Prince killed her unintentionally. Yet, the fact that Naga served 15 years in prison for a crime he did not commit remains.
Rana and his two brothers, Tej (Sushant Singh) and Jaffa (Abhishek Banerjee), are startled when he leaves before serving his 20-year sentence.
Although Rana and Naga have a difficult relationship (the son even refers to his father by name), the young man is kind and devoted to his brothers and children.
Certainly, there are some ups and downs in Rana’s marriage to Naina (Surveen Chawla). In reality, Rana Naidu concentrates on the father-son cat-and-mouse games, albeit there is one instance when we are given to assume that Naga is slain.
But despite what We found to be so unbelievable, he survives. We are fed a variety of scenarios as the series trundles through, with Rana coming out on top. He must because he is the protagonist, and Anshuman’s writing has the appearance and feel of a Telugu drama.
